Round Drum Table with Insert

Round Drum Table with Insert

Regency round Drum Table with Insert Marble and four drawers with brass pulls and four brass-capped feet making a splayed pedestal. Just gorgeous in dark mahogany.

The regency period of English history was from 1811-1820 when George Prince of Wales was Regent while his father was deemed unfit to rule. The period was dominated by the English-French Penninsular Wars culminating in the Battle of Waterloo in 1815 when Napoleon was finally defeated. The "drum" table is one of the many way all things military were celebrated during this time, including women's fashions dominated by a "military" cut to coats and tall hats reminiscent of the regimental shako hat then worn.

This table takes as its theme the military drum used to set the rhythm for marching infantry...

George followed his military period with a flights of fancy in the Chinese style, still beloved by antique collectors for delicate intricacy and bold drama in gold and black lacquers, most notably at his seaside palace the Royal Pavillion at Brighton Beach where chinoiserie motifs dominate the decor.

Custom made is our speciality - Any size, any finish, any design alterations. Please ask to see other drum table designs as there are many variations on the theme, or send your picture and ask for a custom order price.
