Jacobean

The single drawer and cupboard Jacobean bedside is designed to go with the four-poster bed of the same name, and is part of a suite that can include a chest of drawers and a dressingtable and stool..
This design is not currently in stock but may be ordered - lead time 3 - 4 months, please enquire for current pricing.

The Jacobean era spans almost a quarter century and is named after King James I who ruled from 1603 until 1625. James 1 belonged to the Stuart family as did his son and successor King Charles I reigning from 1625 until 1649. The term Jacobean era furniture is used to refer to the period of both kings. James I came to the throne via his Scottish ruling Stuart family (he was already King of Scotland) and was a somewhat austere personality much less flamboyant than his son Charles. Thus the Jacobean period furniture is a mixture of the plainer James' influence and the later Charles' delight in an altogether richer and ornate style. Our Jacobean suite follows the plainer style of living favoured by the Court of James I.

Custom made is our speciality - Any size, any finish, any design alterations is possible, please just ask for a quote. A for instance would be to add a pull-out breakfast tea tray to the design.
